Buyers Guide for Choosing the Right Replacement Screen for your Laptop
Purchasing a replacement laptop screen can be difficult if you have not purchased one before. Laptop manufacturers use a variety of screen panels when assembling the same laptop model. Therefore, the laptop model may have more than one type of screens available. For the screen replacement to work properly, the replacement screen must have the same type of backlight, data connector, and screen resolution as the defective screen. However, to ensure that you are purchasing the correct replacement screen, we have created a buying guide to help guide you through the process so you can quickly select the screen type that will work for your laptop. But if you have any doubts, feel free to contact us and we will assist you in any way possible.
The terms LCD and LED are the two different types of screens that laptops can use. This is important information to know because one type will not work on a laptop that requires the other. For those requiring LCD models, there are two types of backlighting 1-CFFL and 2-CCFL. LED screens are the most common, especially in new laptops, and are available in different types in terms of resolution, video/data connectors, and the type of fittings required depending on the laptop you own.
If you have never purchased a laptop screen replacement before, then you will need to know some information about your existing defective screen before purchasing the replacement. The most important information is the manufacturer code and screen size. Fortunately, the information for both can be found in one place, on the back of the screen itself.
If the old screen has been removed, just turn it around and look for the manufacturer code written on the back. This is the information needed to help you search for the correct screen. For example, let's say the code found on the back of the laptop screen is LTH133BT01S10V0.
This translates to having a 15.6-inch LCD screen from Samsung. The "LTN" is the code for Samsung and the "156" is the code for the screen size of 15.6 inches. You will often see this code next to or above the UPS barcode for the screen.
Here are some examples of codes from different manufacturers.
