SURECOM SF-401 Plus 27-3000 MHz Frequency Counter

Using it is straightforward: bring the radio close to the antenna and wait for the signal bar to reach the green zone, where the reading is reliable. If the radio is too close the bar turns red and the value may be off; if it is too far the signal is weak and the display stays at zero. On the 136-174 MHz VHF and 400-520 MHz UHF bands, the SURECOM portable frequency counter also decodes the CTCSS tones and DCS codes set on the radio.

Frequency Measurement for VHF, UHF and DMR Radios

It covers the frequencies most used in two-way radio communication, from the 2 m amateur band to the whole VHF and UHF range, with a dedicated mode for DMR digital radios. Digital mode works only with DMR equipment, not with other digital devices, and the instrument is designed for continuous carrier signals, so it is not suited to measuring wideband signals. Operating note

Never connect a transceiver's RF output directly to the BNC input with a cable: the output power can damage the frequency counter. Always measure through an antenna, choosing one suited to the band being checked (the supplied UHF antenna is not ideal for VHF). To switch on, hold the black key for about 2 seconds; to switch off, hold it for about 4 seconds.
