Proximity Sensor for Apple iPhone 5C

The Proximity Sensor for Apple iPhone 5C is the flex cable fitted at the top of the phone, above the earpiece speaker, which integrates the proximity sensor, the ambient light sensor and the top microphone. It turns the display off when you hold the iPhone to your face during a call and manages auto-brightness.

Replacement is needed when the screen stays on during calls and your cheek presses buttons by mistake, when the screen stays black and does not turn back on when you move the phone away, when auto-brightness does not work or when the flex was damaged during a display replacement.

Installation note

To reach the flex you need to remove the display, the metal shield and the earpiece speaker. When reassembling, carefully seat the proximity sensor in its housing and check that the rubber boot is aligned with the hole in the glass: a misplaced sensor causes a black screen or incorrect switch-off during calls.
